Daiana

So, it appears that I need to visit Italy some day, especially Cagliari, as TripAdvisor lists it as a great vacation spot with tons of things to do. Beautiful beaches, great places to eat and stay, plus much more. And an added bonus? The Italian beauty Daiana happens to live there!

Daiana began her modeling career back in 2013 and since then, has progressed a long way. She talked with us a little about her passions in life, causes and issues she feels are important, and much more. Read below for the interview:

Luny: Please tell everyone your modeling name and where you are from.
Daiana: My modeling name is Daiana (my real first name) and I’m from Sardinia, which is a region of Italy.

Luny: I read that you use to be an ex gymnast. What happened exactly?
Daiana: I practiced rhythmic gymnastics from when I was 5 years old until 18 years old. Then I stopped simply because it was a period when my interests and priorities changed but that sport will always be one of the most important and best things of my life.

Luny: I see you are able to do your own hair and make up for photo shoots. Did anyone teach you specifically or was it self taught?
Daiana: Self taught. I started having the passion of make up and aesthetics when I was a teenager; I liked to experiment many different looks and to recreate the make up I saw in photos or videos. I always had a preference for dark makeup (I normally went to school with my eyes outlined with huge quantity of black eyeliner) and now when I have to prepare for a photo shoot, doing my make up and hair is part of the fun.

Luny: What are some alternative/original/experimental projects you’ve gotten to take part in and how did they turn out?
Daiana: Probably nowadays is hard to create something truly original and not yet seen. The “gothic look” is still far from the classic standard and idea of model so I consider the majority of my portfolio is alternative and I’m proud of the results.

Luny: Can you share with us a few ways in which your modeling has progressed or changed since you started back in 2013?
Daiana: I’ve become more sure of what I want or don’t want to do and now I prefer the quality of the collaborations to the quantity. I think I have improved in the poses and I give lot of importance to expressiveness; I recently got to start collaborating more with stylists, to get involved for events and even a fashion show. When I started in 2013 I had many doubts because I didn’t know if I was good enough for modeling but now I’m glad of all the opportunities and the feedback i receive.

Luny: Are there any major world issues or things you feel are of great importance and you truly believe in fighting for?
Daiana: This is an hard question. We can sit and talk about those kind of things for hours because the argument is very broad . First of all I believe everyone should fight for the freedom to be who one wants to be, to achieve the desired goals and to create an happy life, no matter what others think. There are too many judgments and too many stupid standards imposed by society.

Luny: Who are some brands/manufacturers/or photographers you’d love to work with in the future and why?
Daiana: It would be a dream if I could work with brands like for example Killstar, Alchemy Gothic, Demonia and similar and there are many photographers that I admire for their creativity and style; the list would be very long!

Luny: What are a few things someone may not know about you?
Daiana: I love reading a lot of books from different genres and I’m fascinated by motorbikes. I’m an introspective, strong and down to earth person.

Luny: Does your creativity go beyond makeup, beauty, and modeling? If so, how?
Daiana: Sometime I sew body harnesses and create accessories to wear them for the photo shoots.
